Kim Kardashian Has Officially Filed for Divorce From Kanye West

After months of rumors regarding their imminent split, Kim Kardashian has officially filed for divorce from Kanye West.

The pair had been reportedly living apart, and sources say they’re not surprised by Kim’s decision to move forward with the divorce.

“It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months,” an insider told E! News. “They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.”

Kim and Kanye tied the knot in 2014. Before becoming a couple, Kanye repeatedly referred to Kim as his “dream girl.” He even appeared on her show, Keeping Up with The Kardashians, where he made his admiration of her well known.

However, their fairytale romance became turbulent over the years.  Kanye, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, publicly made several controversial comments that impacted their relationship. He famously referred to slavery as being a “choice” — a comment that reportedly marked the beginning of the end for the pair.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was Kanye telling an audience he and Kim had considered aborting their first child, North, while campaigning during his failed presidential run. Kanye later went on a Twitter rant, alleging that Kim and her mother, Kris, were trying to have him institutionalized. He even referred to his mother-in-law as “Kris Jong Un” in a tweet.

Kim and Kanye have four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. According to the divorce petition, the pair will share custody. The couple is also said to have an air-tight prenup that neither party is contesting.

Rumor has it the divorce will be a prominent storyline on the upcoming final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
