Kelly Clarkson fans were stunned Friday night when the singer suddenly canceled the opening show of her Las Vegas residency—just 90 minutes before it was set to begin.

Clarkson shared the news on Instagram, explaining that her voice needed rest after intense rehearsals and preparation. She said the process had taken a “toll” on her, and she didn’t want to go on unless everything was “perfect” for her loyal fans.

“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans.  I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.  The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible.   The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong.  I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”

Shortly before canceling the show, the American Idol alum shared photos of herself rehearsing onstage, dressed in a backwards cap, black cropped sweatshirt, and leggings.

Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency, Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, includes 18 shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, running through November 15.

The surprise cancellation of her opening night comes amid rumors that Clarkson is dealing with personal struggles, which could lead her to leave The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Back in May, the “Since U Been Gone” singer opened up about how the NBC talk show had kept her from touring, saying, “We haven’t done a show in a while, y’all, ’cause I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job.”

Sources previously told Page Six that Clarkson plans to wrap up her talk show in 2026 when her contract ends after Season 7.
