Kathy Griffin Takes to Twitter to Reveal That She Has Lung Cancer

If there’s one thing that’s true it’s that health is important, both mental and physical health. Another thing that’s true is that although we can all take precautions to stay healthy, like exercising, eating right and seeing our doctor on a regular basis, none of us are guaranteed a life of perfect health.

Kathy Griffin announced on Twitter that she has lung cancer. The actress and comedian added that she has never smoked. She wrote, “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked.”

The doctors caught the cancer at stage 1, so according to Griffin, “they are very optimistic.” She expects to make a full recovery and is even hopeful that she won’t need to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments.

The 60-year-old star explained, “I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed.” She anticipates making a full recovery in just a month. She wrote, “I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less.”

Griffin added that she is fully vaccinated for Covid. She wrote, “Of course I am fully vaccinated for Covid. The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious.”

Many of Griffin’s followers commented on her post with inspirational messages.

Some people seemed surprised to learn that you can get lung cancer if you’ve never smoked. According to cancer.org, lung cancer can be caused by many things besides smoking. “Lung cancer in people who don’t smoke can be caused by exposure to radon, secondhand smoke, air pollution, or other factors. Workplace exposures to asbestos, diesel exhaust or certain other chemicals can also cause lung cancers in some people who don’t smoke.”

Did you know you could get lung cancer if you have never smoked? Do you think Kathy Griffin will be in full health again within a month? Do you know any lung cancer survivors?
