Not all fast food restaurants are created equal. Some rank better than others when customers are surveyed about their overall level of satisfaction. One company that often gets high marks on these surveys is Chick-fil-A, the chicken fast food chain that’s famously closed on Sundays but almost always has a long line at the drive-thru every other day of the week.

Another fast food company with a notoriously long line is In-N-Out Burger. The hamburger chain is a local favorite, but it has yet to go nationwide. The company prides itself on fresh ingredients and is unwilling to compromise. The vast majority of the chain’s locations are in California, but they also have locations in Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Texas.

If you have ever been lucky enough to taste a burger from In-N-Out, you probably understand why their lines get so long yet many consider it worth the wait. A double double and fries is in a class of burger all it’s own.

If you have ever been lucky enough to dine at In-N-Out you may have noticed something besides the fresh ingredients and the quality of the food. You may have noticed Bible verses on the cups and wrappers.

The verses are almost hidden, so perhaps you didn’t notice them at all, but they’re there. On the bottom of the soda cups, you’ll see “John 3:16.” On the bottom of the milkshake cups you’ll see “Proverbs 3:5.” On the hamburger and cheeseburger wrappers, you’ll see “Revelation 3:20.” On the double double wrappers, you’ll see “Nahum 1:7.”

Many Christians have these famous verses memorized, but if you’re not familiar with the Bible, you might not even know these are Bible verses. You may not know that the words and numbers reference. The words reference a book of the Bible. The number tells you which chapter and verse. For example, John 3:16 reads “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

This fun fact about In-N-Out has an interesting history. The company’s CEO, Lynsi Snyder, explained that it was her Uncle’s idea to put Bible verses on the cups and wrappers. She told The Christian Post that her Uncle Richard, the son of the founders of In-N-Out, “put the Bible verses on the cups and wrappers in the early ‘90s, just before he passed away. He had just accepted the Lord and wanted to put that little touch of his faith on our brand.”

Snyder is also a Christian, and her faith is one of the reasons she holds her family’s company to such high standards. She explained, “My grandparents set the bar high and I only try to raise it.” She added that they “maintain what we’ve started with: not compromising the quality of product, service, or standards.”

Snyder is also following her Uncle’s lead when it comes to Bible verses. Through the years, she has added even more verses to additional products. She said, “I added verses to the fry boat, coffee and hot cocoa cups.” She added, “It’s a family business and will always be, and that’s a family touch.”
