We can all agree that 2020 was a pretty dire year in terms of, well, everything. On top of enduring one of the largest global health crisis in the world that ended up with lockdowns, quarantines, and canceled holidays, there were also murder hornets, vast political disagreements, and much more. We were all happy to say goodbye when December 31 rolled around and hello to a brand new year.

We were certain we could only go up from 2020. But the fact of the matter is 2021 isn’t all much better. More bad occurred just six days in: on January 6, when a storming of the United States Capitol occurred with a riot and violent attack. And it doesn’t seem like things are looking up too quickly.

With all the bad, sometimes you do have to laugh at the situation. And that’s just what comedian Trey Kennedy offers us: Though the events that have occurred n 2020 and 2021 are serious, Kennedy provides some comedic relief with a new hilarious video that reimagines the two years as people having a conversation.

Trey acts as both 2020 and 2021, as the two meet up in a bar to discuss which year is worse. While 2020 is “retired,” he’s pretty certain that he was the worst year of all and is pretty proud of that fact. He’s drinking a “rona” to celebrate his winnings—oh so ironic.

When 2021 walks in, he’s pretty boastful when he sees 2020, telling him that he’s sure he’s going to win him out for worst year of all. At first, 2020 is confident in what he did to the world, but as 2021 tells him what’s been going on just two months in, 2020 gets pretty upset that he may not be the worst year after all.

After 2021 shares what he has up his sleeve for the next few months, 2020 finally realizes he may need to admit defeat.

Though a bit terrifying to think that 2021 could beat 2020 as the worst year ever, the video is hilarious, creative and is guaranteed to make you laugh—especially at the end, when you realize that the bartender serving the two is 1776. Just wait until you hear what his troubles are (2020 and 2021 are not impressed).
