How Kids Are Reacting to the “Normal Barbie”

Have you heard of Lammily yet? She’s the new fashion doll that’s made using standard human body proportions, but she’s more commonly referred to as the “Normal Barbie.” She was brought into existence by Nickolay Lamm to prove one important point – that average is beautiful.

According to the Lammily website:

On March 5, 2014 a crowdfunding campaign was launched to make dolls with typical human body proportions a reality. More than 13,621 backers, preordered over 19,000 dolls. Since then, the doll has been manufactured and is ready to ship out on November 28, 2014 to all backers.

So now that the Lammily doll is pretty much ready to make her debut into the world, Nickolay was curious how the everyday child would react to her. When faced with a Barbie doll and a Lammily doll, what would their thoughts be? To find out, he traveled to St. Edmund’s Academy to talk to some second graders:
