Hoda Kotb Opens Up About Her Recent Experience With COVID-19
Even if you have been fully vaccinated and received a booster shot for Covid-19, it is still possible to get Covid. The highly contagious omicron variant of the virus seems to be defying the vaccine and causing people who thought they wouldn’t get Covid to test positive for Covid.
Chances are that you know someone who has Covid right now. Thankfully, many people seem to recover from omicron fairly easily, and with the updated CDC isolation guidelines, they can return to work and their everyday lives in as little as 5 days after a positive Covid test.
If you have never had Covid, you might be curious what it’s like to battle omicron. Even if you have had Covid, perhaps you’re curious about how your experience compares to the experience of others.
Hoda Kotb recently returned to the TODAY show after spending a few days at home with her family. Upon her return to the show, she explained to Jenna Bush Hager that she “had a tickle in her throat” and assumed “it’s probably nothing.” Just to be safe, she took a rapid Covid test, and it came back positive. Kotb is fully vaccinated and boosted. She still got Covid, followed the advice of her doctor, and shared what that experience was like.
Watch the video below to learn what Kotb’s experience was like battling Covid-19 and how she dealt with the CDC’s isolation guidelines considering she has two young children at home.
If you experience any symptoms at all, even if you don’t think it could be Covid, it’s always a good idea to take a test to find out for sure. Omicron symptoms often resemble symptoms of the common cold. These symptoms include congestion, runny nose, sour throat, cough, headache, and tiredness.
The tell tale symptoms from the original variant seem to have changed. Many people aren’t experiencing loss of sense of taste and smell. Many people aren’t getting a fever or experiencing shortness of breath.
If you have any tickle in your throat, a runny nose or a headache that comes out of nowhere, it’s a good idea to get a Covid test. If you test positive, hopefully your experience will be as easy as it sounded like it was for Kotb.
Do you know anyone who has Covid right now? Did you know that the omicron symptoms are often different than the original Covid symptoms?
