Hoda Kotb had to postpone her destination wedding due to the pandemic. She and her fiance, Joel Schiffman, currently don’t know when they are going to get married, but Kotb told Entertainment Tonight that if people still aren’t traveling 6 or 8 months from now, they will plan something close to home in the summer of 2021.

The couple has two adopted daughters. They adopted Haley in 2017, and then they added to their family by adopting Hope in 2019.

The couple is anxious to officially tie the knot, but getting married isn’t the only change they plan on making. They also want to add a third child to their family.

People magazine asked the Today show co-host if she would like to adopt another child, and the short answer is “yes.”

“It’s funny, I think to myself — and I’ve obviously had a conversation with Joel about it, many conversations — but I feel like, well, can we? Yes. Will our family be better with it? Yes. Do we have enough love in the house? Yes. All the answers seem to say yes.”

Kotb echoed this explanation when she told Entertainment Tonight that she has filled out the paperwork to adopt a third child.

“You know what, Joel and I have had this conversation because — you feel like you get a limited of time on earth and your heart expands, and sometimes you don’t realize your heart’s ability to expand until you’ve filled [it] and sometimes you think you’re at the top, and then you realize that there’s more room, and we wondered, you know, would our family be better with another child? Do we have enough love, do we have enough time, you know, will we be a better family unit? And the answer to all those questions seems to be ‘yes, we would be.'”

Even though Kotb would like to adopt a third child, she is realistic about not knowing when or if that will happen. After having been through adoption twice before, she knows that it is quite a process and isn’t in her control. She told Entertainment Tonight that “all we can do is put it into the universe and fill out papers and then wait and if it happens wow, you know, that was meant to be.”

Kotb is remaining positive, just like she has done through the entire pandemic. For example, she is appreciative of the extra family time she has had since she has been home much more than usual.

“I didn’t know that I’d ever get this much time with my kids, and I’ve loved every second of it.”
