Goldie Hawn Shares the Real Reason Why She Never Married Kurt Russell
Celebrity couples are famous for–amongst other things–“consciously uncoupling” as quickly as they “consciously couple.” That being said, one uber-talented pair has been going strong for a whopping 32 years. That sort of longevity is practically unheard of in Hollywood, especially with a leading man and woman!
So, how do these two keep things fresh? According to Goldie Hawn, it has everything to do with avoiding that very LAST level of commitment–marriage. You see, although, most people just assume that the pair is husband and wife after being together all these years, they have actually yet to tie the knot.
In an interview with People, the legendary actress let us in on why she and her partner of over three decades decided to forgo the traditional marriage route.
“I’ve been married twice,” Hawn says. “Basically, once you’ve done it once, once you’ve done it twice, you realize that marriage, or the act of marrying, has nothing to do with the success.”
“The wake-up call every day is, ‘Do I want to be with this man? Do I want to be in this relationship? Am I willing to give something? How can it flourish and do I want to be there?'” Hawn asks. “Any marriage, any ceremony, any ring will not define that truth.”
You can’t argue with that, folks! The basis of a strong relationship is more about confronting that choice than showing off a flashy ring.
Hawn and Russell share a brood of kids, both together and from previous relationships. The pair also plays Grandma and Grandpa to a whopping six grandchildren: Wilder, Bodhi, Rio, Ryder, Bingham, and Rani. Though the two are surely beaming with pride over the beautiful grandkiddos, something tells us they are just as proud to call their other famous offspring, Kate and Oliver Hudson.
As a matter of fact, Russell just starred in the wildly successful (and, we mean 20 million views in ONE WEEK, successful!) Netflix film, The Christmas Chronicles with his stepson, Oliver. Clearly, this famous blended family has found their groove–even if marriage isn’t on the table.
