‘Gorilla Glue Challenge’ Sends Yet Another Person to the ER

Recently, a woman named Tessica Brown made a huge mistake, and she shared it on social media. She innocently decided to use Gorilla Glue spray on her hair when she ran out of hairspray. A month later, when the glue still wouldn’t wash out, she greatly regretted her actions and ended up going to the ER for help.

A man named Len Martin saw Brown’s viral videos and thought she was being too dramatic. He didn’t really believe that Gorilla Glue was as powerful as she said it was, and he decided to prove it.

In a video posted to Facebook, Martin thought he would start a Gorilla Glue challenge. He now greatly regrets that decision.

In the challenge, Martin took a red Solo cup and put some Gorilla Glue around the rim of the cup. Then, he explained that he was going to put the cup on his mouth. He thought he would easily be able to lick the glue off and release the cup from his mouth. Wrong. So wrong.

Martin was not able to get the cup off his mouth because it turns out that Gorilla Glue really is really, really, really strong. It is not meant to be put on your hair or your face or any other part of your body. It is meant to be used for craft projects and home repairs.

You can watch part of Martin’s challenge in the video below, but be warned, even he now says, “Do not try this.”

When Martin realized that he wasn’t able to get the cup off his face, like Brown, he went to the ER. Martin told WKBN that the doctor removed the cup by “painful peeling” and said that the doctor told him that part of his lip might need to be taken off by surgery if it doesn’t heal correctly on its own. Ouch!

Martin warns, “This is not the challenge you want to try.” Gorilla Glue agrees.

In a statement, Gorilla Glue warned, “Our spray adhesive states in the warning label, ‘Do not swallow, do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing…’ It is used for craft, home, auto or office projects to mount things to surfaces such as paper, cardboard, wood, laminate and fabric.”

Well, if you’re looking for a strong glue for your next home repair or craft project, Gorilla Glue looks like it’s up to the challenge; however, if you run out of hairspray, please just buy some more.

Are you surprised that another person has gone to the ER because of ignoring the warning labels on Gorilla Glue?
