Why a Little Girl Was So Excited to Meet This Bride

You probably know by now that we love all things wedding! Whether it’s the first dance, the touching ceremony, or even the heartfelt vows, we think that there’s nothing better than getting to witness two people tie the knot. And though attending one of these affairs is always a treat, the part that we love most is getting to take a look at those beautiful wedding pictures.

These days, it seems that couples and photographers are really starting to get on board with the fact that the most extraordinary moments usually come from the most unexpected of places. Case in point: this stunning bride who let a tiny stranger crash her wedding shoot.

Last February, Seattle residents Scott Robertson and his new bride, Shandace Lerma were in the middle of getting their wedding photos done, when an adorable toddler clutching a book to her chest suddenly interrupted the session.

Robertson discussed the sweet surprise in a post that has completely blown up on Reddit. He wrote:

…this little girl and her mom happened to be walking by. The little girl thought my beautiful wife was the Princess from her favorite book (the one she’s holding).

Think it can’t get much cuter than that? If so, then think again, because once the tot got Lerma’s attention, the bride actually bent down and gave the little girl a flower from her bouquet. The look on the youngster’s face says it all—she looks positively star struck!

After Robertson’s post went viral, Inside Edition was able to snag an interview with the mom of the girl. When asked about the serendipitous meeting, she said, “It was just very sweet to watch her see the princess that Shandace had become in her eyes. Imagine meeting one of your idols on the street—that is what our daughter was feeling.”

The grateful mom goes on to say that she respects the caring couple for giving her daughter a moment to treasure on their special day.

“Having Shandace and Scott take time away from their wedding photos to live in the moment with me and my daughter was simply wonderful and says a lot about them and their relationship,” the mom said.

She then emphasized that the special shots had everything to do with connection. She explained, “It was a completely selfless instance between strangers, focused on the wonderment of a child, which was full of pure love, awe, and admiration. It was beautiful.”

Well put—we love to hear stories about everyday strangers making unexpected bonds. Go, Shandace and Scott for making this little girl’s day, and go, little girl for having the courage to go up to your favorite “princess”.

We are sure that this darling child will cherish these photos even more when she gets older. Proof that taking a chance on a perfect stranger can yield the sweetest rewards!
