Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean, who is also a host of “Fox & Friends,” was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) back in 2005. She has managed to continue working and thriving for the past 20 years, but now, she is choosing to step away from both work and social media to focus on her health.

In a Facebook post, Dean wrote, “I wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a break from work (and social media) for a bit. I’m ok, but I’ve had some health issues that require rest and time to heal.”

This does not mean that she will be off air forever. She shared, “My bosses at Fox have been kind and understanding, and I feel blessed to be able to take a break to be with my family.”

She added, “The trip to Rome with Sean was a good place to start healing spiritually, and now I have to get back to feeling healthy and strong.”

Dean finished her post by writing, “I’ve always been up front and honest about my life, and I felt I owed you an explanation of my absence. But, I will be back. Grateful to you all for the kind words.”

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MS is “is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system” which includes the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. “This system controls everything we do.”

Symptoms vary from person to person, but some common symptoms include fatigue, pain, mobility issues, memory difficulty, mood changes, numbness, tingling and vision impairment. It is not known what causes MS, and there is no cure.
