5-Year-Old Sits Calmly At the Piano and Launches Into An Impressive Performance Of Chopin’s Minute Waltz

When I was five, I spent my days coloring in coloring books—outside the lines of course. Maybe eating chicken fingers while watching a cartoon. Heck, I was probably picking boogers out of my nose at that age.

My point is, I was in no way, shape, or form doing anything extremely impressive. At five years old,  you don’t really have the capacity to develop a true set of skills yet.

Or do you? At least it used to feel that way. These days, it seems like young kids everywhere are finding their passions and talents much younger than ever before.

Take this 6-year-old boy who is making $11 million a year reviewing toys on his YouTube channel. Or how about this kid who can tap dance better than I can do anything? Then there are these three young banjo boys who are so talented, they were invited to demonstrate their bluegrass musical stylings on the Late Show with David Letterman.

It feels kind of crazy that kids so young can be doing so much, but the proof is in the pudding. And five-year-old Evan Le is no exception. In fact, he might even be the most impressive talent we’ve seen. Ever.

Evan’s piano-playing skills that are out of this world. He can move his fingers and play breathtaking music like you wouldn’t believe. We’re going to just go ahead and coin him the miniature version of Frederic Chopin of our generation.

Evan got his first piano lesson when he was just a ripe three year old, and now, just two years later, he’s truly a master of the art.

If you think he was born into a family of musicians who forced music upon him, you’d be wrong. His parents actually have zero musical background. His talents begin with a toy piano that his older brother, Brandon, who has five at the time, got as a gift.

Evan found himself totally drawn to the piano. He couldn’t stop pressing the keys and actually playing real music, even though it was just a toy. Brandon just made noise with it—but Evan made sound. He was truly fascinated by it.

Of course, after a while, a toy piano just wasn’t enough. Evan’s parents upgraded him to an electric piano, where Evan was able to self teach himself how to play professionally. He’d listen to nursery rhymes and then play them back to the exact same tune using his piano. Can you even?

It didn’t even seem like Evan needed any lessons at all, but his parents of course signed him up anyway.

During the lessons, Evan was able to learn how to read complex music pieces and even compose his own songs. Everyone who hears Evan play is absolutely blown away by his talents.

Don’t think it’s possible? We didn’t either until we saw the video—and this is just the rehearsal to a show! Check it out below. (And remember, he’s just five!)

What do you think of Evan’s musical journey and this performance? Did you ever think a five-year-old could play piano this flawlessly?
