When you look back at old photos of your parents and grandparents, they probably have a completely different aesthetic than you do—their clothes might be totally weird, their glasses look different, and let’s not even talk about their hair. Or…let’s.

Trendy hairstyles change every decade. But the crazy thing is, sometimes they come back into style. After all, ever hear of the phrase, “history always repeats itself”?

Point is: Curtain bangs are back from the ‘70s! You know what we’re talking about: Those fringy, wafty bangs that were iconic when disco balls and bellbottoms were at thing (let’s just hope THOSE don’t come back into style).

Just about anyone call pull off the wafty bangs trend—it’s chic, adventurous and elegant all at the same time.

“The wavy, sweeping fringe is long and grown out with a shorter inner centre,” t Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist and brand educator for Jerome Russell. “This unfussy ’70s sweep and wave is going to be really popular.”

Not sure how to waft your own bangs? It’s easy! You’ll just need a round brush and a hair dryer or a hot brush.

“The easiest way to amp up bangs is to use a rolling motion in conjunction with a hot brush. This will instantly add volume,” says Patrizia Manias, founder of Patrizia Manias Salon in London’s Covent Garden.

“Drying your bangs forward with a round brush and tucking in the ends will give you a great bounce, aided with the use of the right products and tools. I find using a slightly larger iron is great to use to add shape that will promote a flick,” says Christel Barron-Hough, founder of STIL Salon.

Once you’ve dried your bangs, spray a light misting of a medium-hold hair spray or even dry shampoo and a finishing spray. Boom! Welcome to the ‘70s.
