Not all fast food restaurants are created equal. This is true when it comes to the food and the working conditions. One thing that makes it hard for all establishments under one brand name, like Burger King, to be created equal is that there are many different franchises within the brand.

Recently, one Burger King franchise in Lincoln, Nebraska, had such horrible working conditions that every single one of the employees, including the location’s manager, decided to quit. Instead of politely telling their boss that they were giving their 2-weeks notice or writing a letter explaining that they were quitting, the employees decided to do something quite a bit more dramatic and public.

Two former Burger King employees including the location’s manager worked together to change the letters on the sign outside the fast food restaurant. When they were done, the sign read, “We all quit. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Before the now viral sign went up outside Burger King, former general manager Rachel Flores had already given her 2-week notice. After finding out that she was quitting, 8 of her co-workers decided to quit as well.

Flores told KLKN Channel 8, “They wanted to put up a sign to say, you know sorry there’s really not going to be anyone here.” She added, “Just kind of a laugh to upper management.”

Flores and her best friend, Kylee Johnson, who is also a former Burger King employee, explained the working conditions. Often, only 3 or 4 people would be working during the busy lunch rush, and Flores also often worked 50-60 hours each week. Besides that, they were working without air conditioning, and at one point, Flores even had to go to the hospital for dehydration. Her boss told her she was being a “baby.”

After seeing the new sign, upper management asked Flores for her keys and told her she was fired. Since then, new employees have been hired, but many have quit after just a few days.
