You can poach or scramble eggs but many enjoy an omelet. The omelet is often held up as the test of a chef’s skills but not today. These omelet hacks allow for dinner in less than five minutes. Here’s a list of equipment you won’t need: an omelet pan, a cast-iron skillet, and a spatula.
Choose your omelet fillings carefully. Even with these quick techniques, you need to decide what herbs, veggies, meat, and cheese will work best! Or do you enjoy your omelets plain?
3 Easy Ways to Make Omelets
-
Waffle Iron Hack
All you really need to make this is eggs and milk. We believe veggies add a lot of flavor! Just make sure to dice up your vegetables pretty small so they fit in the cracks of the waffle maker.
-
In a Mug Hack
Combine eggs, cheese, veggies and any other toppings in a microwave-safe mug coated with non-stick spray (or use butter). Microwave on high for about 1 minute; stir. Return to microwave and cook until eggs are completely set. The time to set will depend on the microwave.
-
Omelet In a Bag Hack
Crack your eggs directly into the bag, shake or squish the bag a few times with your hands to mix them, and then add any other ingredients. Seal up the bag, shake it a few times to combine everything, and then place it in a pot of boiling water. Voila!
The omelet has been around since the sixth century. Romans had ovemele, eggs cooked with honey and pepper; Persians ate kuku, eggs fried with copious amounts of herbs. There were tortillas in early Spain, and frittatas in what would become Italy.
