How to Make a DIY Disposable Face Mask in 1 Minute

In some cities, it is now required that everyone who enters a store or public place wears a face mask. The guidance is to wear a non-medical face mask so that medical face masks can be reserved for healthcare workers who truly need them the most right now.

Many people have started making their own face masks. That’s wonderful if you have extra time, extra fabric and if you know how to sew; although, we’ve also discovered some super easy mask making techniques that don’t involve any sewing at all.

What do you do if you don’t have any extra fabric? First of all, you might have extra fabric and not realize it. For example, you could cut up an old cotton T-shirt or sheet. Don’t want to do that? We totally understand.

Thankfully, there is a super easy way to make a face mask in just 1 minute. You don’t need to know how to sew, and you don’t even need any fabric. What do you need? A napkin!

That’s right; you can make a face mask out of a napkin! Obviously, this is not a washable or reusable face mask, but it is sufficient for one-time use. Watch the video below to see how easy this mask is to make.

Even a retired firefighter paramdic endorses this easy to make mask. In the comments, he wrote the following,

“I’m retired paramedic. Actually a firefighter paramedic. I worked in San Francisco. I’ve been exposed to God knows what. When I started  years ago ,we didn’t wear anything -no gloves,masks-nothing. But I digress. I just wanted to tell the girl in this video that I think it’s great you’re trying to help people out…There certainly not medical grade and they’re not meant to be worn for a consecutive period of time, but if you have to have a mask and you don’t have anything ,in a pinch for running to the Store this is fine. We can’t even get masks for our hospital workers or first responders so people need to get it in their head that they are not going to get one. You definitely could add more protection to it, but I really appreciate you taking the time to show people they can do something. I’ve stated this before ,ANYTHING you can do to help protect yourself is better than nothing! (Along with social distancing of course!)Be well.”
