One thing we’ve learned since COVID-19 started was that even though some things must temporarily change, that doesn’t mean that we can’t still find creative ways to stay safe while enjoying our life. For example, while we can’t have a big party with all of our friends, we can socialize on Zoom.
COVID-19 has changed how we’ve celebrated holidays, and the next holiday is Halloween. People are already planning safe ways to enjoy the spooky season during a pandemic. For example, in Los Angeles, there’s going to be an immersive “A Nightmare Before Christmas” drive-thru experience.
While we can’t all travel to Los Angeles to enjoy that unique experience, we can all get creative when it comes to trick-or-treating. This is one of our favorite parts of Halloween. We love seeing all the little kids in their costumes, and although it’s completely understandable, it also makes us a little sad to think that a lot of parents don’t feel safe letting their kids go door to door for candy this year.
Thankfully, one family has come up with a way to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters while staying 6 feet away from the little ghouls and goblins. While it may sound impossible, it’s actually completely doable for anyone to recreate.
YouTubers Jaimie and Jay posted a video on their YouTube channel, Wicked Makers, showing step-by-step how they created a spooky candy slide for Halloween. That’s right; it’s a slide for candy.
The slide is made out of PVC pipe, and the most complicated part of the process is creating a stand for the slide. Honestly, you can prop the slide up on anything as long as it’s at a steep enough angle for the candy to slide down, so we would probably skip this part and prop it up on a chair or a piece of wood or something.
The most fun part of the process is decorating the slide. Jaimie and Jay chose to decorate theirs to look like a mummy is handing out the candy, but you can decorate it literally any way you can imagine. Yours could be a ghost, a witch, or even Jack Skellington himself. There are endless options.

Viewers are loving this idea. One viewer commented, “That is a great idea! I was going to do a table with candy in pre-sorted baggies, but sliding the baggies of candy down a decorated 6-foot pipe is really inventive!”
Another viewer wrote, “I would love to do this, but a Jack O’ Lantern Theme one. Thank You for the video!”
