This recipe for Cookie Fries comes to us from the Disney Blog. Cookie Fries are a staple at Walt Disney World’s Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. If you haven’t tried them just imagine biscotti-like chocolate chip cookies with dipping sauce, and your taste buds will have a huge clue of what to expect.
Yes, it’s as delicious as it sounds, and now we know how to make them at home.
Since a lot of people are finding a newfound love for baking during quarantine, a delicious and fairly easy recipe to try couldn’t come at a better time.
One batch of Cookie Fries makes 32 fries, but they’re so good that you might want to make a double or triple batch, especially if you have a big family.
Alex Dunlap, Food & Beverage Communications Coordinator, shares that the famous Cookie Fries are vegan and plant-based. He wrote, “Similar to biscotti, these chocolate chip cookie sticks come with several plant-based dipping sauces: marshmallow cream, chocolate, and strawberry.”
According to the Disney Blog, to make these Cookie Fries at home, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup plus one tablespoon plant-based, softened margarine
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 7 tablespoons warm water
- 5 tablespoons liquid egg substitute
- 1/2 cup dairy-free mini chocolate chips
To make the recipe, mix the first three ingredients until smooth. A mixer with a paddle attachment makes this super quick and easy. Next, combine the water and egg substitute. Then add the molasses and the water mixture to the flour mixture. Mix until smooth, and add the chocolate chips.
Transfer the batter to an 8×8 baking pan and put the pan in the refrigerator for about a half hour. Then, cut the batter into 32 strips that are about 4 inches long by ¼ inch wide. Bake the strips in an oven preheated to 325°F. Bake on baking sheets lined with parchment paper for about 20 minutes or until crunchy.
Sounds easy and delicious to us! Are you going to make these Cookie Fries?
