Let’s be honest, we hardly ever look at the user manual for our home appliances. If we move into a home or apartment and the appliances are already there, we just start using them. Even if we need to buy a new washing machine or dishwasher, we hardly ever look at the user manual. We assume we already know what we’re doing.

For the most part, home appliances are pretty self explanatory. They are designed to be easy to use, but when we don’t look at the user manual we might be missing out on some very important or helpful things. For example, did you know that you’re supposed to clean the filter in your dishwasher? You are, and it’s easy to do.

Speaking of the dishwasher, there are multiple hacks about how to maximize the effectiveness of your dishwasher. Again, you can refer to your user manual, but you’ll probably also want to check out this helpful video. One of the tips it includes is a time-saving way to load the silverware.

Most if not all dishwashers include a removable caddy just for the silverware. This is convenient because you can remove it to fill it with dirty silverware and remove it to put the silverware away. This is also a great way to make sure the silverware doesn’t get lost on the bottom of the dishwasher.

While you probably already know that you’re supposed to put the silverware in the removable caddy, you may not know that there’s more than one way to fill it. It seems self-explanatory. Simply stick the silverware inside vertically. That’s probably the way you’ve always done it, but there is another way, and we’re thankful to TikTok user foreigndisgrace for shared it.
