How to Make an Outdoor Coffee Table out of Wooden Crates
With the weather warming up, it’s about time you took your morning coffee outside! There is nothing more soothing before your day than sitting out in the cool summer morning air and enjoying a nice cup of Joe, or winding down after your day on the porch with a glass of wine. But if you’re outside furniture isn’t up to par – or if it’s non-existent – that’s going to be a little less relaxing. Unless you call balancing a cup of coffee on your lap relaxing. We personally do not, so that’s why we love this DIY outdoor coffee table! Perfect for your patio or porch, this little coffee table is just the piece of fashionable decor you need to really to pull your outdoor furniture together. Watch the video below to see how it’s done.
Going out to buy your furniture? So last year. The thing to do is to make your OWN furniture with simple, cheap projects like this one!
You can essentially make this very inexpensively, maybe around $50, which is much cheaper than spending $100 or more dollars on a little outdoor coffee table. Here’s what you’ll need to get this DIY started:
– Wooden crates (about $10)
– Circular saw
– Sanding block
– Paint or stain
STEP 1: Lining the crates up next to each other on the plywood, trace the outside of both crates. Cut plywood to traced size.
STEP 2: Paint the plywood your desired color.
STEP 3: Sand down the crates, making sure to wipe the dust away with a rag once finished. Paint your crates your desired color.
STEP 4: Once everything is dry, drill the plywood to the bottom of the crates.
STEP 5: Drill on the casters.
We love that they chose to do an ombre coffee table! The great thing about the plain wood is that you can paint it or stain it any color you’d like.
The crates also offer plenty of storage, so they not only LOOK great, but they are actually functional in your outdoor space. And not just for holding that morning coffee.
