How To Cover Your Grey Hair At Home When You Can’t Get to the Salon

As you’re well aware, we’re in the middle of a global pandemic. Coronavirus has swept the nation, leaving schools closed, people out of work, and lockdowns across various countries.

And while the outbreak is causing a lot of big problems like these, it’s also causing some minor inconveniences for people too—like not being able to get their hair dyed.

Now, this may sound like a teeny tiny nuisance to some and doesn’t compare to the bigger picture of the financial burden and economic crisis the outbreak has led to. But that doesn’t mean this still isn’t a problem for many people.

We’re not trying to dumb it down by any means, but with salons closed, some might be wondering how they can take care of those incoming grey roots while remaining on lockdown. We feel you.

Luckily, Angie from the YouTube channel “Hot and Flashy” is here to the rescue. The style guru has made a video perfect for people dealing with their unwelcome grey locks.

The good thing is you don’t have to go to the store and risk your safety, you can just order things online from Wal-Mart, Ulta or another retailer. “You are going to have to be brave though and do your roots at home,” Angie says.

In her video, Angie first addresses the idea of not doing a single thing to touch up your roots—that’s right, embracing your natural greys and letting them grow out, which is actually a common trend right now.

She admits she isn’t ready to do that, but if you’re willing, that’s certainly the easiest solution!

One of the styling products she recommends is a temporary root cover-up. This will work just enough to hold you over until you’re able to go to the salon again. In the video, she lists her favorite brands that work well for her. They’re all easy to find online, inexpensive, and easy to use to boot, in case you’re nervous about doing the DIY method.

If you’re really concerned about doing it yourself and don’t even want to attempt it, Angie recommends contacting your previous stylist and ask them to mix up a batch of your color. She said that she’s seen plenty of stylists deliver the product to people’s houses during the outbreak, plus it’s a great way to support them in this time of need.
