When you see coffee filters in the grocery store, you automatically assume their purpose is to help make your morning pot of coffee. It seems like the obvious response, right?

But even if you’re not a coffee drinker, you’ll want to pick up some filters after watching this video! Coffee filters can be used in some seriously clever ways around the house – none of which have anything to do with brewing a pot of java.

Here are a few ways you can use coffee filters around the house:

1 . FRESHENING UP THE FRIDGE

People say to put a whole box of baking soda in your fridge to absorb the smells…but why waste a whole box when you can make your very own anti-smell pouches uses coffee filters?

Fill the filters with 2-3 tsp. of baking soda, then tie the filter together with a rubber band to form a pouch. Replace it whenever you start to smell nasty smells again.

2. MAKE YOUR OWN DRYER SHEETS

Don’t waste money on endless dryer sheets – make your own!

Soak your coffee filter in vinegar (vinegar has antibacterial cleaning properties like no other) and drop on some essential oils to give it a nicer smell. Wring the filter out so it’s not soaked, then toss it in your dryer for clean, lovely smelling clothes.

3. USE INSTEAD OF PAPER TOWEL

Surprisingly, coffee filters clean messes just as well as paper towels do – some might argue that they clean up messes even better!

Why? Well, for one thing, they’re smaller, so you’re not wasting quite as much paper towel as you would. Also, they don’t leave behind any lint! So you can use coffee filters to clean electronics screens and mirrors without leaving behind those white flecks we all hate.

4. BUTTER A SKILLET

Finally, coffee filters are the perfect thing to butter a skillet before cooking.

It’s crucial to get a pan greased up no matter what you’re making, so put some butter on a coffee filter and hold the other side. This will give you the best grip and the ability to cover the pan thoroughly in butter.
