On October 6, police in Harvard, Illinois, noticed a parked car with its hazard lights on. An officer went to investigate, and that’s when he discovered that the two people inside were dead.
The people in the car were identified as Rachel Dumovich, 29, and Brandon Dumovich, 30, a couple who was just days shy of celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
Now, the cause of death has been revealed. The coroner’s office told Fox News Digital that both people died from gunshot wounds to the head.
Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman previously shared that the investigation is ongoing and that “while a murder-suicide is a potential scenario, no final determination has been made.” The full autopsy report has not been released.
Rachel and Brandon first met in middle school. They kept in touch through the years and started dating in 2022. Two years later, on October 12, 2024, the couple got married.”
Rachel posted on Facebook just hours before her death writing, “Forever chasing sunsets. Wishing we were back in Greece.” The post most likely references the couple’s honeymoon.
Friends have been using the comments section of her post as a place to leave their condolences, with one person writing, “Very tragic situation. Prayers to all involved. May they both Rest in Peace, and may God give strength, peace and comfort to their families during this difficult time.”
