Jamie Lynn Spears has grown up in the shadow of her big sister, Britney Spears. Although she has had a successful career of her own as an actress, she has never been as famous as Britney.
While Britney was fighting for freedom from the conservatorship that kept her captive for 13 years, Jamie Lynn was writing her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said.”
In the book, 30-year-old Jamie Lynn tells the truth about what her life has been like so far including her life as a child. Although she has said that the book is not about her older sister, obviously Britney is her sister and made an impact on her life. It probably would have been impossible for Jamie Lynn to write a book about her life and completely leave Britney out of it.
In order to promote the memoir, Jamie Lynn has done a series of interviews. During several of the interviews, Jamie Lynn has talked specifically about Britney, and Britney isn’t having it.
Now, Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, sent a cease and desist letter to Jamie Lynn telling her to stop talking about Britney. In the letter, Rosengart explained, “We write with some hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to bring more attention to your ill-timed book and its misleading or outrageous claims about her.”
In the letter, Rosengart accused Jamie Lynn of using her book and book tour to exploit Britney “for monetary gain.” Rosengart added, “Publicly airing false or fantastical grievances is wrong, especially when designed to sell books. It is also potentially unlawful and defamatory.”
