Bob Saget’s Family Has Filed a Lawsuit to Keep Death Investigation Details Private

Bob Saget was supposed to fly home to Los Angeles on February 9, 2022. He had performed stand up in Jacksonville the night before and spent the night at a hotel in Orlando. According to his last Twitter post, the show went well, and he looked happy.

Something tragic happened sometime between that tweet and the next morning when his family was not able to get ahold of him. Saget was found dead in his hotel room.

Foul play was quickly ruled out, and later, when an investigation reached a conclusion regarding the cause of death, Saget’s family chose to release a statement publicly saying, “Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.”

The statement continued, “The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”

More details about Saget’s death and injures have been released since the family’s statement. For example, a source told TMZ that there was “an obvious bruise” on the back of Saget’s head. Meanwhile, Page Six got ahold of the autopsy report which said that Saget’s skull was fractured in several places and that he suffered from bleeding to the brain. According to the report, Saget’s exact cause of death was “blunt head trauma.”

The report concluded, “It is most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head.”

Saget’s death was ruled an accident, but not everyone agrees with that verdict. One doctor told the New York Times that Saget’s injuries don’t sound like an accidental fall backwards. He thinks it sounds more like the injuries of someone who got hit in the head with a baseball bat or fell from “20 or 30 feet.”

Saget’s family does not like the details of his autopsy report getting out, and they definitely don’t want any pictures of the investigation to get leaked to the public. In response, Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, and three daughters from a previous marriage, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer, have filed a lawsuit against a local coroner and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.
