Unless you’re an older sibling who grew up with a significant age gap before the next kid, you probably have no recollection of the moment you found out your mom was preggers. But for those of you who do remember, how did you feel?

Perhaps like you felt like dancing? Maybe you squealed? Or maybe you reacted like Brayden Lowe did when his mom dropped the huge announcement. Caters News shared this video of Brayden as he opens a small present from his mother. And it’s guaranteed to be one of the cutest things you’ll watch today.

Brayden’s mom Jade Jones of Manchester is only a few weeks along but found a clever way to announce it to her 6-year-old. In proper gift-opening fashion, he goes for the card first. Sonogram pictures fall out of it and the young man looks thoroughly confused. So far, to Brayden, it doesn’t look like your average gift. The look on his face reads, “What sort of gift is this?”

He studies one of the photos, trying to figure out what it is, but as he sifts through the batch he compliments their beauty. Mom urges Brayden to see what else is in the bag, and we’re eager to see too. He unfolds it, at first thinking it’s another bag. But then. . .a t-shirt?

Flipping it upside down, Brayden reads it aloud slowly, “Mummy is having a baby”. He finally realizes what’s happening, and it’s a little overwhelming. “Oooh, you almost make me want to cry!” Me too, Brayden, me too. Why? “It’s so lovely,” he tearfully says.

She said this about Brayden to the Daily Mail:

“Brayden is quite an emotional child anyway and expresses all emotions quite well, but it was lovely to watch his reaction.

For the next 24 hours he told everyone he spoke to that mummy was having a baby and wouldn’t take off the t-shirt.”

As thrilling as it is for parents to find out they’re expecting, kids who are an “only child” don’t always have the sweetest reactions. Neither do the babies of the family. Jealousy and meltdowns rear their little heads in the family hierarchy and parents cross their fingers, hoping for a smooth sibling-ship. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t.

Yet, older siblings tend to take their role very seriously, becoming natural-born leaders (or bosses) or nurturers. Funny and joyful responses like Brayden’s can set the stage for a smooth welcome for baby. Phew!

Thankfully, Brayden seems more than ready to take on the job as chief big brother in his household. If he’s reacting like this to the announcement, the moment he meets the little one also be something to remember.
