Slow Cooker Applesauce

Serves 6
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Total Time: 2-½ Hours

Ingredients

  • 8 large apples – choose a variety of types (Gala, Jona Gold, Granny Smith)
  • ½ Cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Directions

  1. Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 1” – 2” chunks and place in the liner of a slow cooker. Add water, lemon juice, salt and cinnamon sticks. Stir to mix, cover and cook on high for about 2 hours or until the apples are softened falling apart. Stir, occasionally during cooking.
  2. Once apples are done cooking, remove cinnamon sticks and mash with a potato masher until desired consistency is reached. This will result in a chunky applesauce. Best served warm. Cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.
