Dad Goes the Extra Mile So 3-Year-Old Can Go Trick-Or-Treating on Airplane

We don’t know about you, but we are super stoked that Halloween is just around the corner. There’s just something so great about assembling a costume, carving a pumpkin, and—most of all—trick-or-treating with the little ones!

In honor of our favorite holiday tradition – and we’re not going to lie, free candy does have a lot to do with it being our favorite holiday tradition – we are going to share with you the all-time cutest instance of trick-or-treating we have ever seen!

Last year, a father prepared to board a plane with his 3-year-old daughter, Molly, but before take-off, he managed to deliver the above note to each and every one of his fellow passengers, along with plenty of candy.

In an interview with ABC News, a passenger that was on that very San Francisco-bound flight from Boston recalled what it was like to be part of such an unexpected event.

The passenger, Stephanie Kahan, says that the little trick-or-treater was “super excited” about getting handed candy on the airplane. She adds that the girl had clearly been looking forward to Halloween “for a long time.” Aww!

As the candy was being distributed to the tyke, Kahan decided to snap a picture of the little girl, along with the original note that her father had handed out to each passenger. Before taking off, she couldn’t help but share this precious moment with all of her friends and family through a tweet.

Once they landed, she turned on her phone and quickly discovered that her small mention of the festive coast-to-coast flight had actually been re-tweeted more than 5,000 times! It was a shocking turn of events and one that she—very graciously—decided to inform the father about.

“I leaned back to let [the girl’s dad] know what I had done,” she recalls. “Since I had taken a photo of his daughter, I just wanted to be sure he didn’t want me to delete the tweet.”

What a conscientious gal! We too agree that it’s always important to check with parents before sharing photos of children on social media—though she did, admittedly, jump the gun by tweeting before asking!

“He was in awe and thought [the tweet] was very funny,” Kahan says. “I told him he was a great dad and he seemed super humbled.”

Luckily, the mystery dad was good-natured about the social media faux pas, and gave Kahan the OK to keep up the tweet, although he did request to remain anonymous himself.

Our hearts are melting right now! We absolutely love the fact that this daddy found a way to bring so much Halloween cheer to his little princess. We’d love to hear what you think about this all-star parenting moment. Have you ever had to plan an atypical trick-or-treating sesh? If so, how did it go? What’s your favorite Halloween memory?
