7 Cheap, Natural Weight Loss Foods for Your Diet

Looking for foods that will help you lose weight that won’t cost an arm and a leg or the hassle of following the latest fad diet? Try incorporating these cheap superfoods into your diet on a regular basis!

  1. Dried Black Beans:

Black beans are a great source of fiber and protein, and they’re super cheap! You can fend off hunger by incorporating black beans into your diet, or even substituting them in for meat in some of your favorite recipes. Save even more money by buying dried beans instead of canned. You’ll also avoid excess sodium that way.

  2. Brown Rice:

This versatile food is packed with fiber and protein to keep you full and is great in side dishes, main dishes, casseroles, soups, stews and more. It’s also very inexpensive at about 18 cents per serving.

  3. Old-Fashioned Oats:

Steel-cut oats add a lot of nutritional value to many breakfasts and snacks. At about 13 cents per serving, oats give you 4 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein with each 1/2 cup (with only 150 calories). You can obviously eat oatmeal for breakfast, but get more creative with your oats. Try, for instance, using oats instead of breadcrumbs in your recipes.

  4. Lentils:

    According to Self:

Lentils are a bona fide belly flattener. Eating them helps prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat, especially in the abdominal area.

They’re also high in protein, so just like with black beans, you can substitute these in for meat to help you save money and lose weight.

  5. Avocado:

Avocados may have a high fat content, but that’s what makes them a great weight loss food. Avocados are filled with monounsaturated (good) fat that works wonderfully at keeping you full. You can easily add avocado to sandwiches (instead of using mayo, for example) and salads to add nutritional value and a nice burst of flavor.

  6. Green Tea:

Swap all of the drinks in your diet for water and green tea. According to Glamour:

Swapping to green tea has been found to assist the body in flushing out excess fluids, helping to calm bloating around the stomach caused by water retention. What’s more, it has been found to speed up the metabolism, which can aid the burning of excess fat in the body.

It’s cheap, you can drink it hot or cold (with or without lemon), and it’s also tasty. What more could you ask for?

  7. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is very helpful in a lot of ways. And on top of all that, it’s cheap and great for weight loss. It acts as a digestive tonic that flushes out toxins and relieves water retention around the stomach. Easily sneak it into your daily diet by adding a few capfuls to salads or veggies while cooking.
