Nowadays, the press loves to talk about the younger couples in the British royal family. We’re talking about Prince Willaim and Kate Middleton as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Markle and Harry even left the country and relocated in California partly due to the press’s treatment of Markle and the impact on her mental health.

If we go back in time to the 1990s, the press was infatuated with a different young princess in the British royal family. We’re talking about Princess Diana. What we saw in the news was not always the whole story, and a new movie about the young princess, the mom of Prince Harry and Prince William, will give us a glimpse at her life in 1991.

In a new full-length trailer, we see Kristen Stewart masterfully portraying Princess Diana, English accent and all. Meanwhile, Jack Farthing plays Prince Charles, Stella Gonet plays The Queen, Jack Nielsen plays Prince William and Freddie Spry plays Prince Harry.

The movie, “Spencer,” takes place around Christmas time in 1991. During this time, Princess Diana is deciding whether or not she wants to end her marriage to Prince Charles. In the trailer, as Charles, we see Farthing tell Stewart, as Diana, “You have to be able to do things you hate.” He adds, “There has to be two of you. There’s the real one, and the one they take pictures of.”

The official synopsis for “Spencer” explains, “The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.”

The new movie about Princess Diana will be released on November 5, 2021. Do you plan to see it? What do you think of Stewart’s portrayal of Princess Diana based on this trailer?
