If you have battled Covid-19, you might know that it can be very unpleasant. While some people skate by with few if any symptoms, others suffer for days or weeks, trying to get over symptoms like fatigue, body aches and shortness of breath. In some cases, people end up in the hospital, and not everyone comes out alive.
Thankfully, a lot of people are able to fight off Covid-19 and fully recover; however, just because you’ve had Covid once does not make you immune. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson knows this first hand. The 24-year-old has recently recovered from his second case of Covid.
Jackson first battled Covid in November 2020. At the time, he said he “wouldn’t wish [COVID] on anybody.” Yet, so far he has chosen not to get vaccinated for Covid, and he ended up contracting the virus once again.
When he was asked about his reaction to finding out he had Covid a second time, he said, “It was crazy. I was heartbroken. I wasn’t looking forward to that at all. Right before camp … not again, not right now.”
According to his coach, John Harbaugh, he had quite a few symptoms. He took the required 10 days quarantine to recover. Jackson said that he spent a lot of that time sleeping due to fatigue.
When Jackson was asked if he plans to get vaccinated for Covid, he didn’t give a clear answer. He said, “We’ll see. Talking to the doctors. We’ll see.” He added, “I feel it’s a personal decision. I’m just going to keep my feelings to my family and myself. I’m focused on getting better right now. I can’t dwell on that right now … how everybody else feels. Just trying to get back to the right routine.”
Currently, 90% of the players for the Baltimore Ravens are vaccinated for Covid. That makes Jackson one of only a few players who have not gotten the vaccine.
Back on the field, Jackson is picking up where he left off. He didn’t show any signs of being sick. Watch the video below to see him in action and learn more about his second battle with Covid.
Do you think Jackson will decide to get vaccinated? Do you know anyone who has battled Covid twice?
