The saying goes that a dog is man’s best friend, and dogs certainly can be great companions. Not only can a pet dog be great at keeping someone company, kids also have a lot of fun running around with dogs and playing games like fetch.

Some dogs aren’t just great friends, they’re so much more. For example, one dog named Edgar is a true hero. He actually saved the lives of three little girls.

Another dog named Kevin is more than just a companion for his elderly owner. He actually does her laundry. No joke!

Then there’s a dog named Lucky who has certainly lived up to his name.

While a lot of people put a lot of thought into what they are going to name their children (and we have the baby name lists to prove it), a lot of people also put a lot of thought into what they’re going to name their pets.

Pets can be like children after all, and while many pets have names that double as names for people, some pets, like Lucky, can have names that you most likely would not give to your son or daughter.

We don’t know exactly why Lucky was given his name. Perhaps the family felt lucky that he was their dog. Perhaps they found him through lucky circumstances. Perhaps they just really like the name. What they didn’t know when they gave their dog his name was that he would truly bless them with some good fortune.

Lucky lives with his family in Australia. Recently, the lucky dog went for a Sunday stroll with his owner and his owner’s two young daughters. While they were on their walk, Lucky spotted something unusual. It wasn’t an ordinary rock.

Lucky actually found a gold nugget weighing well over a pound. When his owner saw what Lucky had found, he knew he had to get it appraised. His owner also plans to take Lucky on more walks and hopes that he can sniff out more gold nuggets like this one. We can’t say we blame him!

Watch the video below to find out how much the gold nugget Lucky found is worth.
