After nearly four months of enduring the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing masks in crowded areas has pretty much become the norm. Whether it’s a grocery store, restaurant or salon, most companies are requiring customers and employees alike to cover their face to limit the spread of coronavirus.
However, that doesn’t mean everyone always obliges. However, there’s always going to be that person who refuses to follow policy and throw a fit. Some people call these people “Karen”s—you know, modern-day slang for an entitled or demanding person; someone who plays up her own privilege, usually at the expense of others.
We’ve seen our fair share of Karens who refuse to wear masks—whether it’s at the supermarket and she throws her groceries all over the floor, or throwing a fit in Starbucks when she wasn’t able to get served without wearing one.
Now, meet the Karen who got kicked off an airplane after refusing to wear a mask. While on the American Airlines flight from Ohio to North Carolina, the woman insisted that she had a medical condition that forbade her from wearing a mask.
In addition to making a racket about wearing a mask, passengers said she was quite demanding to everyone from the gate employees to the flight attendants.
“She was argumentative from the gate,” said one passenger, Jordan Slade. “She demanded to be boarded first and was causing an obvious scene. Once boarded, she was making phone calls and arguing with the attendant when asked to put her phone away.”
Slade decided to tape the Karen as she was gathering her belongings to get off the flight. She then began to clap as the Karen was escorted off the plane, and everyone joined in with her.
The Karen wasn’t too happy about it, but all’s well that end’s well! Take a look at the scene in the video below—and the reaction ‘Karen’ had.
Do you wear masks in public? Would you ever cause a scene in a crowded area about not wearing one?
