Raising kids is difficult. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first time parent or if you already have several kids. Each child is different, and it just keeps getting more and more stressful and exhausting, that is until you have four kids. At that point, moms start to let their guard down and stop obsessing about perfection.
Jessica Simpson has 3 children. We can all assume that she’s learned a thing or two about parenthood over the years, and that she pretty much knows what to do at this point. She doesn’t need a crash course on the good and bad. She’s got this.
Not everyone can agree. Some moms just can’t help but mommy shame other moms no matter how famous they are and no matter how many children they have.
On Easter Sunday, Simpson posted a couple photos of her baby girl, Birdie Mae, on Instagram. In the photos, Birdie Mae is wearing an absolutely beautiful floral dress with a stunning headband on her sweet little head. As many people were quick to point out in the comments, her face is simply darling, and her chubby cheeks are purely edible. We’re a little bit obsessed.

Unfortunately, some moms aren’t very nice. They couldn’t stop themselves from commenting about one aspect of the photos. You see, Birdie Mae was posed sleeping on her stomach. As mommy shammers were quick to point out, babies should sleep on their back to prevent SIDS.
We can hope that these comments were meant to be helpful and not hurtful, but either way, it was unasked for advice given to a mom with two other children. We’re sure she knows all about SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) prevention.
Simpson doesn’t seem to be phased. If she is, she’s not letting on. She responded by posted a new photo of Birdie Mae. In the new photo, the precious baby is sleeping on her back. Simpson’s caption is spot on. “I like to pose on my belly, but I love to sleep on my back #BIRDIEMAE”

In the comments on the new post, many people applauded Simpson’s response.
Have you ever been mommy shamed for something you very well already knew? How did you respond? Are you as obsessed with Birdie Mae’s cuteness as we are?
