We hate to admit it, but we actually love when producers bring back our favorite old classic movies to the big screen.

Sure, we can probably rent the film somewhere or just throw in the DVD on our TV and watch it at home for much less money than they’d charge, but there’s just something about sitting in an oversized chair, staring wide-eyed at the film in the movie theater. It really takes us back!

If you’re like us and love watching a good flick in theaters—even if it’s one that you’ve seen a ton of of times over—you’re going to love this news: Producers are bringing the classic 1930s film “Gone With the Wind” for us to enjoy in theaters once more.

Thanks to Warner Bros. and Fathom Events, you’ll be able to see your favorite actors Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland and Hattie McDaniel come to life and star in the film on the big screen—80 years after it was first released.

Gone With the Wind had its first showing on January 17, 1939 and over the years has won 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and eight Oscars—more than any other film has won. The film was also the highest-ever grossing movie at the global box office (when accounting for inflation). Today, it would’ve been a total of $1.824 billion. Insane.

Viewers in this decade—and the decades after—just couldn’t get enough of the storyline, which is based off the wildly popular novel by Margaret Mitchell. The movie depicts southern belle Scarlett O’Hara attempting to maintain possession of her family’s property amid American Civil War devastation. Throw in a love affair triangle with characters Rhett Butler and Ashley Wilkes and it’s a true classic that remains iconic to this day.

There is a little bit of controversy around the film—it’s been protested for depicting racism and sexism, but some argue that it just shows how different films were back then, and appreciate the film for that.

If you’re a fan, you better hurry and get your tickets. Gone With the Wind will only be showing in theaters for a short period of time—a whopping three days.

At select, participating theaters, you’ll be able to see the classic come to life again from Thursday, February 28, 2019 to Sunday, March 3, 2019 and only at select times: Afternoon and evening show times at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Just remember, the movie is four hours long, not including the four minute intermission. So you just want to make sure you pick a date where you have plenty of time to sit back, relax, have some popcorn, and enjoy the show.
