Prince Andrew has denied that he was close friends with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. Instead, he maintained that he was close friends with Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite who introduced Andrew and Epstein.
Perhaps when the spotlight was on Epstein, it seemed like a good idea to Prince Andrew to separate himself by claiming to be Maxwell’s friend and not Epstein’s, but now, the spotlight is on Maxwell and swinging in Prince Andrew’s direction.
Maxwell was convicted of 5 counts of sex trafficking. The jury determined that she played in integral role in luring and grooming teenage girls to become sexual abuse victims for Epstein.
Prince Andrew was not mentioned during the trial, but the link between him and Maxwell is still there. There is a picture from 2001 of Prince Andrew standing next to Virginia Giuffre. Maxwell is standing in the background. Giuffre is one of Maxwell’s victims, and she also has a civil case against Prince Andrew accusing him of sexual abuse. Prince Andrew claims that Giuffre is lying and denies the claims. He also denies any memory of the photo.
The lawsuit against Prince Andrew states, “Twenty years ago Prince Andrew’s wealth, power, position, and connections enabled him to abuse a frightened, vulnerable child with no one there to protect her. It is long past the time for him to be held to account.”
After Maxwell’s conviction, Giuffre wrote on Twitter, “Maxwell did not act alone. Others must be held accountable. I have faith that they will be.”
Watch the video below to learn more about how Maxwell’s conviction could impact Prince Andrew and the British royal family.
Do you think the British royal family should and will cut ties with Prince Andrew? Do you think Giuffre’s case against him will be dropped on a technicality? Do you think Prince Andrew is guilty?
