What are the signs that the pandemic is coming to an end? For us, when things get closer and closer to normal, not a new normal, but a real normal, that signals that things are looking up.

Last year when Disneyland reopened after being closed for more than a year, it signaled that perhaps the worst of the pandemic was behind us. Walt Disney World had already been open for months, but the reopening of the gates on the west coast where Covid rules were stricter than they had been in Florida, seemed to signal that we were going to be okay.

Yet, Walt Disney World and Disneyland have not looked exactly normal since they reopened. At first, there were markers on the ground to keep guests 6 feet apart. And even to this day, guests and employees throughout the park are wearing face masks.

There was a time during the summer of 2021 when the face mask rules were dropped at Walt Disney World with the exception of transportation, but then as the Delta variant surged and Omicron followed close behind, the face mask rules came back. Ever since and to this day guests are required to wear face masks at indoor locations throughout Walt Disney World and Disneyland, but not for long.

Starting tomorrow, February 17, 2022, Walt Disney World and Disneyland will no longer require vaccinated guests to wear face masks when they are inside. There is only one exception. Guests over the age of 2 will still be required to wear face masks when they are on transportation vehicles including the monorail, buses, boats and the Disney Skyliner.
