There’s always that one big event that occurs at the Oscars that everyone talks about for days, weeks, months after it happens. During the 94th annual awards ceremony, Will Smith is the talk of the century.
In case you missed it, Smith got up from his seat and punched host Chris Rock square in the face after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Right before presenting the award for best documentary, Rock joked, “Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it.” He was referencing the actress’s recently shaved head, which she had to do during her recent alopecia journey and severe hair loss. Smith then proceeded to walk onto the stage and punch Rock hard in the face.
When he got back to his seat, he screamed at a confused Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*cking mouth.”
The incident went viral immediately, sending a wave of disbelief across the globe. Some thought the occurrence had to be staged, but it turns out it was very much real. But people certainly have their opinions.
Some praise Smith for standing up for his wife—but others think the punch was way out of line. And then of course, you have your comedians and late-night hosts making jokes about it. Here’s what they had to say.

Let me tell you something, it’s a very bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a Comedian. Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters.
