For the many fans that have watched Jeopardy! for the past few decades, Alex Trebek has become like a member of the family. That’s why so many have been interested in his cancer journey.
The beloved game show host has been sharing updates since he first announced his diagnosis nearly three months ago, but the latest news sounds good. In a cover story with People magazine, Trebek says that his tumors are shrinking – by more than 50% – and it’s possible he will be going into remission.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer which has a low survival rate, but he’s been responding well to chemotherapy. Trebek and his team of doctors are hopeful and overjoyed about his progress and are optimistic about his course of treatment.
But Trebek believes there is another component to why things are looking up for his health:
“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers. I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.”
In addition to friends and family, he’s heard from fans and cancer survivors all over the world who have shared their encouragement and personal stories. It’s helping!
Trebek will continue with chemo treatments and according to his doctors, is close to remission. Learn more about his fight by watching the video below.
