Many cities set up and decorate Christmas trees to celebrate the holiday season, but one of the most iconic Christmas trees is the one in Rockefeller Center in New York City. Every year, the brightly lit tree is brought in by truck and set up for all to see. It is decorated and covered in lights. It looks truly magical.
Then, there’s the 2020 Rockefeller Christmas tree.

When Rockefeller Center tweeted out a picture of the tree after it had just arrived from a 2-day journey, the response was overwhelmingly negative.
What the heck is wrong with the tree??? This is what it looked like before it was cut…and now. Gulp! pic.twitter.com/0rfMqTXazS

Why does it look so bare and half dead. Aren’t yall supposed to look at it before getting it

Rockefeller Center seems to think that people aren’t giving the tree a chance. After all, it did travel a great distance via truck, and it has yet to be decorated.
Wow, you all must look great right after a two-day drive, huh? Just wait until I get my lights on! See you on December 2! 😉

Yet, social media users are still being very critical of the tree, comparing it to Charlie Brown’s sad-looking Christmas tree and saying that it sums up 2020.
Will Charlie Brown and the gang be in charge of decorations? 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

That’s exactly what I thought, and I actually like the symbolism of it, too 👌🏼

It probably is true that the tree will look different after it’s decorated, but there might be another reason it doesn’t look so great right now. Several Twitter users have pointed out that the branches might need time to settle after being tied up for transportation and that some of the branches might have been tied up in the picture.
It looks like some of the limbs have wrapping for protection as it being moved, but I could be wrong. 🤷🏼♀️

It was wrapped for travel give it a couple days to settle.

This year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was donated by Daddy Al’s General Store in Oneonta, N.Y. The tree was cut down on Thursday and arrived in Rockefeller Center on Saturday. Hopefully it will look more magical once it settles and is decorated.
