If you enjoy a glass of wine from time to time, you probably know that some of the best wineries in America are in Northern California. We’re talking about the Napa valley. You may even have a few favorite wineries in this region that you would like to visit. (We do.)
But, think about it. Drinking and driving certainly don’t mix, and we visit wineries, well, to drink wine. Sure, you could choose a designated driver or use a service like Uber, but there’s an even better, dare we say more “magical” way to enjoy a day wine tasting in Napa.
We’re talking about the Wine Train. Think of it like the old-fashioned version of a really long limo that escorts you to winery after wonderful winery. Not only that, but it’s historic. (We’re talking about 100 year old train cars.) And there’s food. And your winery tour and wine tasting fees are covered for the wineries that you’ll visit on your adventure.
As described on the Wine Train’s website, “A Wine Train journey is so much more than a tour or an excursion. It’s an unforgettable experience. An elegant train. Plush interiors. Polished, personalized service. And multiple courses of fresh, gourmet California cuisine as the lush vineyards of the Napa Valley landscape pass you by.”
The Wine Train “brings guests from around the world on a 36-mile round-trip discovery to St. Helena and back, stopping at celebrated Napa Valley wineries along the way.” There are multiple tour packages to choose from, and they generally last from 3-6 hours.
One option is in the beautiful Vista Dome train car which includes panoramic views and a gourmet meal as you travel between wineries. You’ll visit a total of three wineries on this trip.
Another option is The Legacy Tour which includes a 4-course meal and wine tastings at the Mondavi, Charles Krug and V. Sattui wineries.
There are other tour options that only stop at one winery, but while you’re there, you’ll enjoy an extensive tour.
If you’re looking for something even more unique, there are extra special tours like a Polar Express adventure you can bring the kids on in December, and Valentine’s Day tours for you and that special someone on the most romantic holiday of the year.
The Wine Train also offers packages for groups. You can book a tour for a corporate event or your wedding. Imagine how magical it would be to get married on the Wine Train!
The Wine Train is definitely going on our travel to-do list.
