When a health emergency struck his family, Jeffrey Kendall started thinking about his own life and health. Suffering from bouts of depression and poor self-image, he decided to do something about it.
As fate would have it, around the same time he was caring for his recovering mother, a friend asked Jeffrey to be his workout buddy. This friend was also dealing with his own sadness after a breakup, so he too needed something that would redirect his attention and energy.
That turned out to be the extra push Jeffrey needed to change his health habits, and he embarked on a huge transformation journey which included lots of physical activity. It also sparked changes in his physical appearance that have people comparing him to a Disney prince and Greek god.
Jeffrey shared some pics on Reddit with a statement that read, ‘I’ve lost a lot of weight, a lot of sadness, and a little facial hair. I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for life. Remember to always love yourself.’ The photos show just how much he’s changed, and boy, that hair is something!
The post has since gone viral, landing him an interview with Best Life and a space on Love What Matters where he shared the story of how he got to this point. The 26-year-old credits his mom with being his biggest inspiration. She suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015 which left her in a coma and hospitalized for months.
During that experience, Jeffrey watched her suffer, but he also saw her regain her strength. He mentioned that when he started to shed some pounds, his mom began to see the old him. Taking care of her helped give him a new outlook on life, and he was determined to keep up a healthy routine with his buddy.
On Love What Matters he wrote:
“We started out small, a light barbell workout and agreed to do pushups every day. Soon I was waking up and going for walks while listening to uplifting music. My happiness grew and my confidence too.
I started jogging and doing sprints, pushing myself a little more and more. I sought new ways to work out, I found YouTube channels like ‘Yoga with Adriene’ to help fill those times when I wanted a workout at home. I began doing yoga and working out almost every day.”
In addition to working out, he’s also made adjustments to his eating habits, including ditching late night snacking. Jeffrey’s found the positive responses he’s received online to be humbling and motivating. And we have to agree, he’s totally giving us princely vibes in these photos!
With his friends and family to back him up, he plans on staying on track to maintain his fitness and weight. So far, he’s lost over 70 pounds! While losing weight and a boost in happiness is something to celebrate, we do hope he decides to keep the ‘do.
