Though it seems like Will Smith hitting Chris Rock was the only thing to come out of the Oscars, there was a lot of good that happened that night, too!

One heartwarming story that comes to mind is that the Oscars actually led John Travolta (and his 11-year-old son, Ben) to adopt an adorable rescue dog after he got to meet him at the ceremony.

The adoption happened thanks to Jamie Lee Curtis, who took the dog (whose name was Mac & Cheese) up on stage with her during her tribute to Betty White, someone who loved animals more than anyone else we know. White had helped tons of animals and animal-related nonprofits in her lifetime and even created a TV series in the 1970s called “The Pet Set.”

The idea was to commemorate White by advertising for a nonprofit that helps people adopt dogs. “Day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this,” Curtis said on stage, holding up the dog. “So, the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac & Cheese from (the nonprofit organization) Paw Works.”

Little did she know, it would be Travolta whose heart would melt over little Mac & Cheese. Before he went out to present the award for best actor, he spent a little time with the dog in the green room. Clearly, it was love at first woof, and he and his son wound up adopting him and bringing him home the next day.

Someone texted a photo of him with the dog to Curtis, which she then posted about on her Instagram a day later.

“I thought it was so beautiful to see him with her and then today I found out that he and his son, Ben have adopted beautiful little Mac & Cheese and are taking her home today,” she wrote.

Travolta and his son are thrilled with their new addition, and thanks Curtis for bringing them together.

“Ben adopted this dog from last night’s Oscar tribute to Betty White. Thank you @curtisleejamie & @pawworks,” he captioned the post.

How cute is this little puppy? Though Mac & Cheese is a great name, what do you think they named him? We’re hoping for “Betty”!
