If you think some tiny houses have a view, wait until you see Bonnie’s tiny houseboat. Bonnie always felt that she belonged on water – her father was a log driver, as was his father before him. So when she was considering building a tiny house of some sort, a houseboat seemed like the right choice for her! This 4 season houseboat is prepared for every time of year and the custom-made cabinets and windows? Well, you have to see how incredible this tiny houseboat is for yourself! Watch the video below to take a virtual tour.
The idea came to Bonnie when her boat builder friend, Denis Tremblay, convinced her that a tiny houseboat was the way to live alternatively.
The boat is built on 5 pontoons that are designed to provide flotation while still taking on some water to keep the boat weighed down for stability. The pontoons are also designed to freeze in the ice during the harsh winters.
We say this is a 4-season houseboat because it is fully insulated and has an antique wood burning fireplace to provide heat in winter. For power, they installed a deep cycle marine battery that provides 12-Volt power for the lights, bilge pump, and navigation lights. For refrigeration, Bonnie uses a cooler with ice, but she might invest in some solar panels so that she can power a proper fridge eventually.
The main floor has a kitchen, toilet, dining room and living room, and upstairs there is cozy a sleeping loft with a grill floor that allows heat to rise through the floor, which is brilliant. And, for the best view imaginable, the loft leads to a rooftop patio to soak it all in.
The boat has a gas motor which can be taken out of the river when Bonnie has decided to settle somewhere. The boat is currently docked in the quaint little town of Wakefield, Québec where there are cute cafes, restaurants and shops right across the street!
When she’s not enjoying her riverside view, Bonnie rents out her floating tiny house as an Airbnb! If anyone is interested in renting this houseboat, check it out on the Airbnb website https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/9678942?guests=1&s=vNzQNzuG.
