In light of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve obviously had our fair share of negative news pouring out onto the internet. Anything from the death tolls from the virus to the sky-high unemployment rate is enough to make us sulk even more about all that’s going on in the world.
That’s precisely the reason that The Office actor John Krasinski decided to launch his own YouTube channel dedicated to purely good news, and nothing else.
Appropriately titled, “Some Good News,” the only things the channel covers stories that help put a smile on people’s faces.
In addition to the positive news, Krasinski regularly hosts guest appearances. Among his first was none other than Steve Carrell, his co-star in The Office. And guess what? Carrell, among other The Office cast members, came back for another episode—and this was one of the greatest ones yet.
If you’re a fan of The Office, you’ve definitely seen the episode where Pam (played by actress Jenna Fischer) and Jim (Krasinski) get married and the cast comes parading down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever.” The dance was inspired by an old YouTube video where a couple and their wedding party did this in real life.
The cast dancing down the aisles became of the most iconic episodes of The Office out of all nine seasons, so it only made sense that Krasinski would bring it back for just the right moment.
On a recent episode of Some Good News, John met with a couple named Susan and John. You see, John proposed to Susan in the exact same way Jim (Krasinski) proposed to Pam in The Office.
“I knew the proposal needed to be something really special but also really something unique,” John said. “‘The Office’ has been something that has connected the two of us for a very, very long time so it just felt right.”
Thanks to coronavirus, John and Susan had to cancel their wedding, but they were still planning to go ahead with a virtual wedding—and they figured why not reach out to Krasinski himself to see if he’d like to attend.
Well, he did them one better. In the episode, he told them that not only would he attend, but he’d actually marry them, as he was an ordained minister. He then brought all of John and Susan’s friends and family to screen, shocking them both. Yep, the wedding was going to happen right at that moment!
Additionally, Krasinski brought on none other than country singer Zac Brown, who sang a special song for her and her father that would’ve played at their real wedding. This was much more emotional, getting to hear it in “person,” and Susan broke down, wiping away tears as he sang.
And yet, the surprises still weren’t over. Krasinski then surprised the newlyweds by bringing on the entire case of the Office to reenact that famous dance down the aisles—and it’s honestly the sweetest (and most hilarious) thing!
