Ah, the joys of parenting. While most mom and dads would be quick to tell you that the negatives of raising a child don’t come anywhere close to outweighing the positives, it doesn’t mean that kiddos are always the most pleasant people to be around. In fact, sometimes they can be just plain annoying!
Nobody embodies that sentiment more perfectly than the viral video star du jour, Tucker Hembree. This funny 10-year-old has a mom who loves to sing—and she’s pretty good at it, too! —but that didn’t stop him from crashing her most-viewed performance.
The clip opens with Tucker’s mom, Cinna Hembree, sitting at her kitchen table with a couple of plastic tumblers in front of her. Once she starts turning them over, thus creating a pretty catchy beat, we instantly realize what song she is going to sing—the uber-popular and notoriously difficult “Cups” from the movie Pitch Perfect.
Cinna’s doing quite the job of maintaining the rhythm, even when Tucker walks into the frame around the 25-second mark. She automatically throws a “Can’t this wait?” look his way, but he simply walks past her into the kitchen.
From there, Cinna continues on with her song, though we can see that she is just a TAD bit distracted—and for good reason. You never know what a 10-year-old boy is going to do in a kitchen unattended!
He starts adjusting the knobs of the stove—which makes us a little nervous—but he quickly changes his mind and pulls a gallon bottle of iced tea from the fridge. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Tucker goes on to unscrew the cap and starts chugging DIRECTLY FROM THE BOTTLE. It’s driving us crazy, and we’re sure Cinna would have a similar reaction if her back wasn’t turned.
After wetting his whistle, the boy gives a couple quick glances to the camera, then a mischievous look spreads over his face.
He decides that it’s time for him to get in on the fun.
We won’t spoil the video for you, but we will tell you the 10-year-old ended up completely stealing the show. Poor Mom!
A musical family
As it turns out, Cinna and her family are all very musical; she says that Tucker even backs her up on the drums on occasion.
In regards to his comedic timing in the clip, Cinna explains that this is quintessential Tucker. She writes:
It really shows the kind of boy he is, he’s extremely funny and always goofing off. I’m so used to him being funny and silly that it didn’t knock my focus to begin with, I just let him continue doing his thing.
Currently, the clip has over 21 million views and has been shared to practically every corner of the globe. Not bad for a single mother in small-town Tennessee!
