We all want to feel beautiful on the outside from time to time, right? Unfortunately, there are lots of things and changes that happen in our lives that can get in the way of that—more things that can actually make us feel attractive.

Whether it’s comparing yourself to someone you think is better looking or nitpicking every physical trait about yourself, there are many reasons why we can experience low self-esteem from time to time. However, one of the most common reasons a woman might feel badly about herself is when they find themselves on the brink of separating from their spouse.

Divorce, though relatively common these days, can be one of the hardest life changes that people go through. Not only is everything you once knew changing, but it can make you question what went wrong and whether it was something you did—and consequently hurt (read: squash) your self esteem.

At 48 years old, Heather, of Amarillo, Texas, found herself getting ready to get a divorce her husband. Needless to say, it was not her finest hour. “Eventually I just kind of gave up for a while,” she said, alluding to her physical appearance.

Sick of her gray locks and not knowing a thing about eye shadow, Heather knew she needed some kind of uplifting change in her life. She decided to pay a visit to Christopher Hopkins, aka the Makeover Guy at the Christopher Hopkins Image Center in Minneapolis.

Known for his drastic makeovers, Christopher is highly skilled at taking people who’ve lost all hope or have no idea how to make themselves look presentable, and making them look and feel like a completely new person.

Just look at the stunning transformation of Debbie, who was also going through a divorce, or how he changed up Phoebe’s look after she lost her son to pancreatic cancer. He’s truly a miracle worker—and makes women feel like miracles themselves after going through a hard time!

When Christopher asked Heather if there was anything she didn’t want to see in terms of her makeover, she just prodded that she didn’t want to see “ugly.” Well, she certainly didn’t have to worry about that!

Christopher took Heather’s gray straggly hair, cut it to her chin, and then dyed it a light auburn color, which seemed to take years off her appearance. He also applied makeup, from foundation to blush and eyeliner, in a soft, warm palette that seemed to push the stunning envelope even more.

“I really wanted Christopher to do whatever he thought was best, and I think he kind of nailed it,” Heather said. “I feel sexy!”

We couldn’t agree more! If this makeover doesn’t give Heather that boost to get out there again, we don’t know what will!
