When you’re a couple in the Hollywood spotlight, it’s tricky to keep anything about your personal life a secret. Engagements, weddings, and even more negative things like illnesses, are often hidden away from the nosey eyes of the paparazzi and the world.
You certainly can’t blame them! Yes, they may have signed up for this life of glitz and glamour, but no one needs to be prodded for every detail of their private lives.
One couple that does a pretty exceptional job of staying out of the spotlight is Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton. You likely recognize Morgan from his role as the nefarious character “Negan” on AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Morgan and Burton met in 2009 and got married in 2011, a year after they welcomed their first baby, Augustus, in 2010.
Back in September, Burton debuted her baby bump on the carpet of the 2017 Emmy Awards. Her husband lovingly brought attention to the pregnancy by cradling her tummy and smiling at the cameras, all of which promptly went crazy taking pictures of the pregnancy reveal!
While the secretive couple may have decided to let the news drop in this super-smooth way, something they had decided to keep to themselves was the sex of the baby. Despite prodding from fans online and media outlets during interviews, the couple has stayed very aloof about the gender…until Morgan went and made a little mistake.
During a panel that Morgan was speaking on, he accidentally let slip that they were going to be having a baby girl. As soon as he realized it, Morgan rose to his feet and covered his face with his hands, obviously embarrassed that he had just revealed this secret to a whole room of fans and reporters.
Someone managed to snap a photo of his regretful pose in that moment, which he posted on Instagram with a sweet apology to his wife for spilling the beans.
The Instagram post reads:
“Whoever took this picture?? Caught a moment…thank you. We shall cherish. I texted @hilarieburton right after I spilled the little girl beans…and, as usual…she was a rock star. After all these years she’s come to expect me to be a dope…thank god she gets it, and loves me regardless.”
Hey, sometimes news is just SO exciting you can’t wait to share it. (Even if it’s a subconscious slip of the tongue!)
