On April 28, 2023, Bonnie Raitt, informed the world that she was suffering from a “medical situation.” She didn’t reveal any details about the exact medical condition, but she did share that she would have to have surgery. In addition to the sad news about her health condition, Raitt also informed fans that she would have to cancel several shows while she underwent surgery and recovered. At the time, Raitt also thanked fans for their “well wishes and understanding.”

Obviously, this was startling news and upsetting to fans not only because of the canceled shows but also because of the vague description of her medical condition and no idea how she was recovering.

More than a week later, Raitt has finally shared an update with fans. She turned to Instagram to reveal that “everything went really well” with the surgery. She wrote, “My healing is on track and I’m feeling better every day.”

Raitt still has not revealed any details about the medical condition or what type of surgery she had, but she did thank fans “for your beautiful, caring wishes for my speedy recovery.” She added, “I so appreciate your support.”

Raitt shared that she and her band are looking forward to performing again. The singer wrote, “The band and I can’t wait to get back to playing in a few weeks. I’m so sorry we had to postpone our shows and apologize to those of you who won’t be able to join us for the rescheduled dates.”

At the end of her post, Raitt shared a special wish for the upcoming holiday, Mother’s Day. She wrote, “Happy early Mother’s Day to all the moms, and honoring our grandmas’ lineage too! Who’d we be without them? So many thanks.”

Raitt’s fans are relieved to have an update from her and to know that she is on her way to making a full recovery. One person wrote, “Thank you for the update, Miss B…. we can all take a deep breath and smile, hearing you are the mend… continue to be kind to yourself, we’ll be here when your ready… so much.”

Another comment reads, “Great news! Continue to get strong!!”

While Raitt is not quite ready to perform just yet, you can still watch her on stage in the video below.

Why do you think Raitt is keeping fans in the dark about her medical condition and the type of surgery she required? Do you think she will ever share with fans what really happened?
